What a Masquerade at the Fatima Project
Members of the Humraaz team attended a workshop in Newcastle upon Tyne for the “Training the Trainer” programme.
Fatima is a two-year project which aims to increase the capacity within ethnic minority for work against Honour Related Violence in order to alleviate the problem. The project aims to train organisations on human rights by developing training material based on the European and UN Conventions on Human Rights and the rights of the child.
A board game was provided by the Fatima project. Staff organised several sessions and played the interactive board game with the clients to increase awareness on human rights, domestic violence and housing issues. This has proven very successful with the Humraaz ladies. After hearing the positive feedback from the group the decision has been made to continue to deliver the sessions on a regular basis.
To ensure engagement with the Humraaz ladies there was a mask making exercise as part of the Fatima Project which was the perfect way to get them involved.
